The grounds

Abbotsford’s grounds were designed with a desire to ensure it remained sympathetic to Colonial Georgian architecture and at the same time endure through our Mediterranean climate of hot, dry Summers and cold, wet Winters. It remains practical in it’s classical symmetry which was a feature of the Georgian period and yet it’s 800 roses and large lawned areas provide both beauty and a sense of space.

The quadrangle between the main homestead and the cottages is perfect for a game of pétanque with friends or other guests, or the ideal space for an outdoor function such as a wedding marque. Or maybe choose a spot under one of the verandahs sitting back in a Jack and Jill with a good book and glass of Barossa’s finest.
